Our Voices: Festival Of Words
Our Voices: Festival of Words is an open-air Festival of Words at Samuel Delevoe Park and the African American Research Library and Cultural Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, celebrating the power of literature and literacy.
The festival showcases local creatives and world-renowned artists, hosted by the Art Prevails Project, a not-for-profit collective that invests in creativity and literacy for all to prosper.
This year's festival features poetry readings and lectures featuring respected authors and speakers, including, Mahogany L. Browne, Ashley M. Jones and more.
Bring your blankets and chairs, and come by any time from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. to enjoy:

Say Sumthn' Teen Poetry Showcase
The Say Sumthn' Poetry Showcase -presented by Art Prevails Project- is an experience that places dual emphasis on writing and performance. Youth poets, under the direction of professional poets/educators, harness their creativity and personal experience to create original work that reflects their personal experiences and perspectives.
Prizes -including cash awards- will be presented to participants based on creativity, performances, and citizenship.

Art Prevails Project hosts monthly writing workshops for the community leading up to our Festival of Words in April 2025.
Each workshop will feature exercises that explore community and identity and give participants the opportunity to creatively express their thoughts, emotions and experiences.
At the end of the workshop experience, some participants will have the opportunity to share their work at the culminating festival.
These artists will receive an honorarium for their participation in the festival.

The 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop serves as the soundtrack for this multidisciplinary journey of the rhythms and rhymes of life, love and everything in-between. The latest in the Art Prevails Project's annual series, A Hip Hop Love Story takes the 'theatrical mixtape' to its next level while taking the audience on a journey of beats, rhymes, and life.
